The love of the exotic is manifest in 18th century art through sculpture, painting and music referencing the four known continents: Europe, Asia, Africa and America. Four Nations' soprano Pascale Beaudin sings Parisian and American cabaret songs joined by guest Joseph Thalken at the piano while the Ensemble brings you evocations of Salons and Noble Savages by Corette, Couperin, Rameau, and Bach.

The desire to WOW an audience or patron is ageless in our history and Four Nations takes the opportunity to highlight composers who have thrilled through virtuosity, imagination, and genius. Leclair, Boccherini, Scarlatti and Handel mesmerized. Bach confounded. Join Four Nations in its TOUR DE FORCE program.

Four Nations joins with the ASPECT Foundation to present our final New York City concert inspired by the riches and dangers of the Grand Tour. What music did the fortunate northerner travellers enjoy while soaking in the classical culture, art, food, gambling, and loose behavior available in Paris, Venice, Rome and Naples?

Preconcert illustrated talk and selections of music from the capitals of Europe offer a Grand Tour in your own backyard with music of Pergolesi, Quentin, Vivaldi, and composers the Romans around Corelli and Scarlatti.

The Tour includes:
PARIS: Quentin's Trio Sonata or Quatou
VENICE: Boat songs and flute concerto
ROME: Corelli's La Follia for violin and continuo
NAPLES: Pergolesi's Orfeo for soprano and strings

With Pascale Beaudin, soprano, Charles Brink, flute, Olivier Brault & Adriane Post, violin, Kyle Miller, viola, Loretta O’Sullivan, cello, Adam Cockerham, lute, Andrew Appel, harpsichord.

Four Nations concerts and programs are possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

Four Nations appearance at Merkin Concert Hall is made possible through a generous grant from Mr. Christian Draz.
